What Happens Next?

You've mailed in your application to take the CMA (AAMA) Certification/Recertification Examination. What happens next?

Well, on your end, nothing for a little while.

The AAMA Certification Department will send an e-mail within 30 days of the date you mailed your application. If you do not receive a response, please contact the Certification Department by phone or e-mail to check on your enrollment status.

If you're eligible for the CMA (AAMA) Exam…
You will receive an e-mail with Scheduling Permit instructions no later than 20 days before your 90-day testing period begins.

You then must do the following:

  • Log in online and print out the Scheduling Permit.
  • Use the Scheduling Permit to make an exam appointment.
  • Bring the Scheduling Permit with you to your appointment.

The Candidate Application and Handbook, which you reviewed prior to applying for the exam, includes suggestions to help you study and prepare for the exam.

If you're not eligible…
You will receive a partial refund of your candidate fee payment, so carefully review the CMA (AAMA) Certification Exam Eligibility requirements, which include the grounds for denial of eligibility. Contact the AAMA Certification Department at 800/228-2262 if you have any questions about your eligibility.
