Throughout your career, the CMA (AAMA)® certification can give your job prospects a boost. Whether you’re applying for a new job or making a case for a raise in your current position, an up-to-date credential shows you are serious about your career and keep your health care knowledge current.
The AAMA supports your career moves by making the verification of CMA (AAMA) status quick and easy. Certification status is a matter of public record and may be released. Every day the AAMA responds to more than 100 employer requests for CMA (AAMA) certification verification—for both current and potential employees.
Employers can visit the “Verify CMA (AAMA) Status” webpage on the AAMA website and verify that you are a CMA (AAMA) and have maintained currency. Those seeking verification simply fill out a brief form and receive instant notice. Employers can search by employees’ Social Security number, name and certification ID number, or name and state.
Alternatively, they can call the AAMA Certification Department at 800/228-2262.
Note: Medical assistants who (1) do not hold a medical assisting credential, (2) hold a credential other than the CMA (AAMA), or (3) have a CMA (AAMA) credential that is not current are not permitted to use these initialisms or this phrase:
